About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a leading technology consultancy on a major enterprise cloud transformation project based in Telford. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize high-performance data pipelines to migrate a large-scale legacy SAS estate (including SAS 9.4 and Viya 3.5 components) to SAS Viya 4 on AWS. You will work closely with consultancy architects, platform engineers, and client delivery teams to ensure seamless data integration, automated pipeline delivery, and robust data governance.
Key Responsibilities

- Integration & Job Refactoring: Collaborate with SAS developers to refactor existing legacy jobs, ensuring full compatibility, scalability, and performance in Viya 4.
- Automation & CI/CD: Build automated workflows for data ingestion and processing using modern DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git) integrated into continuous delivery pipelines.
- Data Quality & Governance: Ensure all solutions strictly adhere to data governance, security, and GDPR standards, implementing automated monitoring and alerting for pipeline health.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
