Analytics Engineer – Investment Management
Location: London
Contract Type: Contract
Tax Status: Outside IR35
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working - London
A major investment firm is looking for an Analytics Engineer to take real ownership of the data models and analytics foundations supporting financial planning, reporting, and investment decision-making. This is an opportunity to join a small, high-impact team where you’ll have genuine influence over how the firm structures, understands, and uses its financial and investment data.
You’ll lead the transformation of complex, fragmented data into trusted and scalable analytical models covering FP&A, forecasting, loans, real estate, and wider investment portfolios. Rather than simply maintaining existing reports, you’ll help build new capabilities from the ground up, modernize the existing warehouse, and shape the firm’s move towards a unified Microsoft Fabric architecture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
