About The Role
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join the Synergy Shared Services Hub within DWP Digital. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering one of the most significant transformations to Civil Service shared services in recent history. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and support advanced reporting and analytics solutions that provide trusted insights to nearly a quarter of a million users across multiple government departments. You will work with modern cloud technologies, including Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI/AIDP), Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), and Power BI, to design, build, and maintain data pipelines, datasets, and integrations. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will translate business requirements into scalable, reusable reporting products that support decision-making and operational efficiency. Your expertise will ensure data quality, reliability, and performance, contributing to the continuous improvement of government services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in data engineering, with a strong understanding of data modelling principles and industry best practices. You should possess experience testing and validating data pipelines to ensure accuracy and reliability, along with developing Business Intelligence (BI) and Management Information (MI) solutions, including dashboards and self-service analytics using tools like Power BI or similar platforms. Knowledge of Oracle Fusion reporting tools, such as FDI/AIDP and OTBI, or equivalent enterprise reporting platforms, is essential. Additionally, you should be skilled in data mining and code analysis techniques to resolve data quality issues. Strong communication skills are vital to interpret and convey business requirements effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders. A background in cloud technologies and experience working within a government or large enterprise environment will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer in the Synergy Shared Services Hub, your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, datasets, and reporting solutions that support decision-making across multiple government departments.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into effective data products.
- Testing and validating data to ensure accuracy, quality, and performance, applying engineering standards and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contributing to the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of reporting solutions, ensuring they are scalable and reusable.
- Supporting the integration of cloud-based data platforms, troubleshooting data issues, and implementing enhancements to improve service delivery.
- Working within a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge, embracing innovative technologies, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
