About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Education Policy Advisor to join the National Education Union. This pivotal role involves analyzing current educational policies, developing strategic recommendations, and advocating for reforms that benefit educators and learners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the UK education landscape, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence policy at various levels. As an Education Policy Advisor, you will work closely with union members, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure that the voice of educators is represented and that policies align with the union’s mission to promote equitable and high-quality education for all.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a relevant university degree, preferably in Education, Public Policy, or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience in education policy, advocacy, or related roles is essential. Strong analytical skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication abilities, are required to effectively interpret complex policy issues and communicate findings clearly. Familiarity with the UK education system, legislative processes, and stakeholder engagement strategies is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive research and analysis of current educational policies
- Identifying areas for improvement
- Developing actionable recommendations
- Monitoring legislative developments and providing timely updates to the union’s leadership and members
- Engaging with policymakers, educational institutions, and advocacy groups
- Contributing to the development of position papers, briefing documents, and campaign materials to support union initiatives
- Participating in conferences, seminars, and public consultations to represent the union’s interests and promote its policy agenda
- Ensuring that the voices of educators are heard and integrated into policy discussions
