About The Role
The Data Engineer Programme at Newto Training is an innovative, self-funded career development initiative designed specifically for individuals with little or no prior experience in data. This programme offers a unique opportunity to gain industry-recognised certifications, hands-on practical experience, and dedicated career support, culminating in a guaranteed job placement or a full refund of course fees. Participants will be trained by experienced industry professionals through live instructor-led online sessions, with a focus on developing core skills in data analysis, database management, programming, and cloud technologies. The programme aims to prepare learners for entry-level roles in data engineering, analysis, and related fields, providing a pathway into one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK economy.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a strong interest in technology, problem-solving, and data. While prior experience in data or IT is not required, candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn, good communication skills, and a proactive attitude. Educational background can vary, including recent school, college, or university leavers, career changers, or those leaving the Armed Forces. Basic computer literacy and a genuine interest in developing new skills are essential. Successful candidates should be motivated, committed to completing the programme, and eager to enter the data industry with a growth mindset. No specific technical prerequisites are necessary, as comprehensive training will be provided.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
