The Opportunity

Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing technology business in the search for a Data Engineer. This position will suit someone who enjoys building dependable data platforms, improving data quality and making information more accessible across a modern organisation.

You will work alongside software, analytics, product and cloud teams to develop reliable data pipelines, strengthen the wider Azure environment and support better commercial decision-making.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Develop and improve data services within a Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Improve data quality, reliability and monitoring across the platform.
  • Work with analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting and data requirements.
  • Contribute to technical standards, documentation and engineering best practice.

What We Are Looking For

  • Commercial experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience with Azure data services or a comparable cloud platform.
  • Knowledge of ETL or ELT pipelines, data modelling and warehouse concepts.
  • Experience working with version control, testing and deployment processes.
  • Clear communication and confidence working with technical and non-technical colleagues.
