Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing Data Engineering team supporting large-scale data pipelines and analytical datasets. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, testing, maintaining and enhancing production data pipelines, working with large datasets and contributing to reliable, scalable data solutions. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Analysts and other technical stakeholders, taking ownership of defined engineering deliverables while following established engineering standards, development practices and architectural patterns. This is a hands-on Data Engineering role suited to someone with strong production pipeline experience who can work effectively within an established engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, test and maintain batch ETL/data pipelines for production datasets.
- Develop and implement changes to existing pipelines and data tables based on defined business and technical requirements.
- Perform data backfills, schema updates and pipeline enhancements.
- Write, optimise and troubleshoot SQL queries across large-scale datasets.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues identified through monitoring, testing or stakeholder feedback.
- Develop and maintain data quality checks, tests and technical documentation.
- Use Python for data transformation, automation and pipeline orchestration.
- Work with distributed data processing/query technologies such as Spark, Presto, Hive or equivalent platforms.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
