Data Engineer

Location: Belfast (2 days a week)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that support reporting, analytics and business decision-making.
You’ll work closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and business stakeholders, turning data requirements into reliable and effective technical solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple data sources.
  • Develop and support data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Work with Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Use SQL and Python for data transformation, automation and optimisation.
  • Apply data modelling best practices, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, performance and reliability.
  • Work with analysts, data scientists and stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Implement appropriate data governance, security and access controls.
  • Produce technical documentation and share knowledge across the team.

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years’ experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, ADF or Fabric Pipelines.
  • Experience with dbt Cloud or similar data transformation tools.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data warehousing.
  • Experience working with Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Knowledge of dimensional data modelling.
  • Experience with tools such as Fivetran or Alteryx is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Finance knowledge or experience working with financial data would be advantageous.
