About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Data Engineer to join our growing data team. This is an excellent opportunity for IT professionals looking to develop or transition into Data Engineering. You will work with Python and SQL to collect, transform, validate, and process data from different sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data processing scripts using Python.
- Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data.
- Build and support basic ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Extract data from databases, APIs, CSV files, and other sources.
- Clean, transform, and validate datasets using Python.
- Perform data quality checks and investigate data inconsistencies.
- Work with relational databases and maintain data tables.
- Automate repetitive data-processing and reporting tasks.
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot basic errors.
- Document data processes, workflows, and technical solutions.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts and other engineering teams to understand data requirements.
- Follow best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and version control.

Required Skills
- Good understanding of Python fundamentals.
- Ability to write clean and maintainable Python code.
- Familiarity with data manipulation using Pandas.
- Understanding of functions, loops, conditions, lists, dictionaries, and error handling.
- Basic understanding of reading and processing files such as CSV and JSON.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug basic Python code.
- Good understanding of SQL fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of window functions is desirable.
- Understanding of relational databases and primary/foreign keys.

Additional Requirements
- 2–5 years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field
- Applicants should be open to relocation within the UK based on client project requirements.
