Data Engineer | AI startup, tier-one VC backed | London (hybrid, 2-3 days)
We're hiring for a fast-growing, VC-backed startup building AI-powered software for a safety-critical sector. This is currently the most business-critical technical hire on their roadmap, tied to a live enterprise deployment.
You'll be:
- Owning legacy data pipelines, ingestion and integration across genuinely fragmented, real-world infrastructure, not a clean greenfield stack
- Working the full surface, from backend systems through to warehouse and schema design
- Operating in short iterative cycles with high autonomy and no fixed playbook
Core skills:
- Python, production data pipelines rather than scripting
- SQL, with hands-on data modelling and schema design/documentation
- AWS, cloud-agnostic instincts a plus, forces run different providers
- ETL and pipeline build, backend-to-warehouse flow
- Data lake and enterprise integration experience, legacy stacks, systems without APIs

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
