Lead Data Engineer, Agentic AI / GCP, Westminster, London
£90,000 to £130,000 base plus equity
Full time, permanent, onsite 4 days a week in Westminster, London
Own the data platform behind an agentic AI product, across Postgres, MongoDB and Qdrant on Google Cloud. Data that feeds agents in production, not just dashboards.
What You Would Actually Be Building
Our client is building the AI system of action for UK lettings and estate agencies. It sits on top of the agency's CRM and runs the operational work: prospecting, viewings, maintenance, compliance and arrears.
A lot of that work runs through their voice agent, which picks up the phone when the branch can't. Every one of those agents depends on the right data, in the right shape, at the right time.
That data platform is yours to own.
Why the Data Platform Matters Here
The product is built on agentic pipelines. The quality of what the agents do comes down to the data underneath them: what they can retrieve, how fresh it is, and whether you can measure when they get it wrong.
The stack spans Postgres, MongoDB and Qdrant on Google Cloud, with data coming in from agency CRMs and live operational workflows. You will know what it takes to make that reliable as the business scales across agencies.

The Role
- Own the data platform end to end, from ingestion through to what the agents consume
- Design and build reliable pipelines across relational, document and vector stores
- Build the retrieval and embedding pipelines that power the agents
- Put in place the data quality, monitoring and evaluation that show when agents go wrong
- Lead and grow a small data team while staying hands on
- Work directly with engineering leadership and the founders on data strategy
- Set the standard for building data systems with agentic AI tooling
Essential Experience
- Hands on data engineering experience at lead level, or very close to it
- A first class degree from a Russell Group university, or a 2:1 from Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL or Warwick, in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or a related field
- Real experience building data systems for LLM or agentic products in production
- Retrieval, embedding or vector database experience
- Strong Python and SQL, with experience across Postgres and MongoDB
- Cloud experience, ideally Google Cloud
- A startup or 0 to 1 background, or a standout record at a top firm
- Uses Claude Code and agentic workflows as standard
- Right to work in the UK, no sponsorship available
- Able to work onsite in Westminster 4 days a week

Salary and Benefits
- £90,000 to £130,000 base, depending on experience
