Overview of the role
We are seeking a motivated and professional Data Engineer to join our Digital Services team.
Reporting to the Group Director - Digital, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services aligned with NOCN’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines and integrations that connect previously siloed systems into reliable, reusable data resources.
- Model and structure data in ClickHouse (and related tooling) so it is trustworthy, well-documented and ready for analysis and product development.
- Use AI tooling to accelerate the set-up of data resources, automate routine data work and support exploratory analysis — applying human judgement to the outputs.
- Deliver analysis and data products at pace so ideas can be validated with real evidence within days rather than months.
- Work in continuous discovery with developers, UX and business colleagues, holding the thread from data need through to delivered insight.
- Ensure data quality, lineage, security and compliance (including GDPR) across everything you build.
- Help establish data standards and practices, and mentor others as we build our in-house data capability.
- Support a broad product landscape – internal AI and orchestration, learner tools, finance, customer support and more.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
