The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineer to join Monmouthshire Building Society's growing Data Team. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building and supporting modern data solutions within an Azure-based analytics and lakehouse environment.

As a key member of the team, you will help deliver reliable, secure and well-governed data platforms that support analytics, Power BI reporting and regulated financial services operations. Working closely with data specialists, business stakeholders and technology teams, you will play a vital role in shaping trusted data solutions that drive informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines using Azure Databricks, leveraging Python, PySpark and SQL.
  • Design and implement data ingestion and transformation processes across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers using Delta Lake.
  • Support, monitor and maintain Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse platforms to ensure operational stability and performance.
  • Build and optimise Gold-layer datasets for Power BI reporting and wider analytics consumption.
  • Support production workloads, troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis to minimise disruption.
  • Ensure adherence to data security, governance and access control standards within a regulated environment.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, data lineage records and operational runbooks.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions aligned to business needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
