About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer/Developer to join our client’s modern data platform team on a contract basis until the end of the year. This position is inside IR35, offering a competitive daily rate of up to 490 GBP. The role is based in London with hybrid working arrangements, requiring 2-3 days onsite per week. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the asset management sector and possess a strong background in data engineering, analytics, and cloud-based solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects involving Snowflake, Azure, Python, and CI/CD pipelines, contributing to the development of scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled functionalities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should demonstrate a solid foundation in data engineering and relevant technical skills, including extensive experience with Snowflake and SQL. Proven expertise in ETL/ELT development, dimensional modelling (Kimball methodology), and cloud platforms such as Azure is essential. Familiarity with dbt development, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and CI/CD pipelines is required. Additionally, proficiency in Python for automation and data processing, along with experience using version control tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub, is necessary. Candidates should also have previous exposure to AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot. Prior experience within financial services, asset management, or wealth management sectors is highly desirable. Knowledge of.NET/C# and React/TypeScript environments will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Snowflake data models, transformations, and data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow and accessibility.
  • Design and optimize dbt models, establish testing frameworks, and manage deployment processes to promote best practices in data engineering.
  • Create Python utilities and services to facilitate data integration, automation, and processing tasks.
  • Support and enhance cloud-based data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and related services.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub to streamline development, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly, ensuring platform stability, reliability, and supportability.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver practical, scalable, and innovative data solutions.
