Data Engineer
Locations: London, Manchester, Birmingham or Bristol
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Security: DV clearance required
We’re supporting a major technology and consulting organisation with several opportunities for Data Engineers, ranging from junior through to senior level. You’ll work on large-scale data and AI projects, helping design, build and improve the pipelines, platforms and services that support critical client environments. The role will involve a mix of hands-on engineering, technical problem-solving and collaboration with stakeholders.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Building and improving batch and real-time ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Working with large datasets across data warehouses, data lakes and operational systems.
- Developing scalable, repeatable and well-documented data solutions.
- Supporting the deployment and monitoring of machine learning models.
- Working with SQL and NoSQL databases, data modelling and metadata management.
- Identifying and resolving data quality, mapping, database and application issues.
- Producing clean, tested code using modern development practices.
- Working within an Agile/Scrum team and contributing to technical decisions.
- Explaining technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What we’re looking for
You’ll need strong Python skills and experience working with cloud technologies across AWS, Azure or GCP.
Experience with some of the following would be valuable:
- Data warehousing and lake architectures.
- Distributed technologies such as Spark or Kinesis.
- CI/CD, TDD, version control and software engineering best practice.
- Docker, Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Data modelling and system architecture.
- AI or machine learning projects, including model monitoring in production.
- Client delivery, stakeholder management or technical consultancy.
- Leading teams or making technical decisions.

There are opportunities for candidates at different levels, so we’re interested in people with a strong core in data engineering who are keen to work across modern cloud, data and AI environments.
The role will involve occasional travel to client sites across the UK, so flexibility and mobility are important.
Please note: Applicants must be eligible to obtain BPSS and DV clearance. This will typically require a continuous UK address history covering the last 10 years, limited time spent overseas and British passport eligibility without dual nationality at the point of application.
