Data Engineer – Contract

Ballymena | £55k equivalent | Initial 6 months | 4 days onsite per week

Ocho is partnering with a business in Ballymena to recruit a Data Engineering Contractor for an initial six-month engagement.

The role will focus on the Microsoft data stack, with a mix of hands-on data engineering and Power BI reporting. You’ll help improve how data is collected, transformed and made available to the business, working closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable datasets and useful reporting.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building and maintaining data pipelines across the Microsoft stack.
  • Writing and optimising SQL queries and data transformations.
  • Developing data models to support reporting and analysis.
  • Creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Investigating data quality issues and improving existing processes.
  • Working with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Commercial experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Microsoft data technologies.
  • Experience with Power BI, including data modelling and DAX.
  • A solid understanding of ETL processes and data quality.
  • Someone comfortable working independently and getting up to speed quickly.
  • Availability to work onsite in Ballymena four days per week.
