Data Engineer / Development / Insurance / Data Bricks / PowerBI / Azure / Fabric
Contract opportunity with a London Market insurer. Hybrid working, initial 6 months, likely further extensions, up to £550pd outside IR35.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves getting stuck into the detail: building, testing, and supporting data integrations that actually matter to the business, not just ticking boxes on a spec sheet.
Role / Duties
- Acting as the go-to Data Engineer across projects, enhancements, and production support
- Build efficient & scalable capability to provide data & bordereaux
- Enhance and automate the existing fee calculation process to enable the addition of follow markets
- Validating data integrations against ETL specs — making sure the data model actually holds up
- Leading production implementations so releases land smoothly
- Coordinating with both internal teams and vendors to keep quality and timelines on track
- Flagging technical or organisational roadblocks before they become problems

- 5+ years as a Data Engineer / Developer working with large data warehouses and big data sets
- Strong knowledge of database systems, Microsoft SQL and ETL tools
- Data Analysis exposure
- Excellent stakeholder management background - comfortable dealing with C-level
- Solid ETL and reporting tool experience — Power BI, Databricks or similar
- Understanding of cloud based data solutions, preferably Azure/Fabric.
- Experience within the insurance sector
- Knowledge of maintaining online reporting tools preferably Power BI.
- Powershell experience
- Transact SQL expertise
