Are you an experienced Data Engineer looking for your next challenge? Do you enjoy designing scalable data solutions, improving systems and taking ownership of how data is managed across an organisation?
We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to take ownership of our data environment, pipelines and architecture. You’ll work closely with our Lead Technology Architect and wider technology team to build scalable data solutions, improve performance, automate processes and ensure our data is reliable, secure and ready to support reporting, analytics and digital products.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of our cloud data environment, identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
- Design and implement scalable data storage, structures and cloud solutions.
- Build automated ETL/ELT pipelines and integrations between operational systems, third-party platforms and internal applications.
- Develop reliable data models and layered data structures to support consistent reporting and analytics.
- Monitor and optimise database performance, including query and index optimisation.
- Establish data governance, security, backup, disaster recovery and audit processes.
- Build and maintain data marts and semantic models supporting business intelligence and reporting.
- Develop and maintain APIs and data services supporting core applications and mobile solutions.
- Implement monitoring, scheduling and alerting to ensure data pipelines remain reliable.
- Work closely with developers, analysts and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data flows, ER diagrams and architecture decisions.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms, managed databases, storage and orchestration services.
- Advanced SQL, database design and performance tuning skills.
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, API integrations and automated data processes.
- Experience with Business Intelligence, including DAX, Power Query and semantic model design.
- Experience with an ORM such as Entity Framework Core.
- Strong understanding of data security and authentication, including OAuth 2.0, SAML and encryption.
- Experience with cloud cost optimisation, resource governance and monitoring.
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-native data solutions.
- Experience working with complex, multi-system data integrations.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience remediating and improving existing/inherited infrastructure.

Desirable
- Experience with modern data warehouse or lakehouse platforms.
- Experience with notebook-based development and distributed data processing frameworks.
- CRM integration experience.
- CI/CD pipeline configuration.
- Experience supporting mobile application backend services.
- Low-code/no-code automation experience.
- Experience working within a regulated environment.

We’re looking for someone who is self-directed, pragmatic and curious, with a strong eye for detail and a genuine desire to improve how things work. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership, investigating problems and working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical teams.
Working Arrangements
This is a remote-first UK-based role, with occasional on-site requirements for team collaboration and planning sessions.
