Data Engineer – Informatica Cloud (IICS)
Location: Doncaster (1-2 days a month)
Salary: Up to £60k DOE
Contract: 12-month FTC
Industry: Construction
The Opportunity
I'm currently working with a leading construction organisation that is looking to hire an experienced Data Engineer to join its data team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
The role sits within a major transformation programme focused on the evolution of the organisation's ERP system. As part of the Integration workstream, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering cloud-based data integrations between business applications.
Working closely with the Senior Data Engineer, BI Manager and wider business stakeholders, you'll be responsible for building robust integration and ETL processes, helping to automate manual data flows and improve how data moves across the organisation.
This is a hands-on Data Engineering role, with a particular focus on Informatica Cloud (IICS). You'll need strong experience using IICS in a professional environment, alongside solid SQL and API integration experience.
If you're a Data Engineer with strong Informatica Cloud, SQL, ETL and API experience who has worked on an ERP transformation or integration project, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a major data transformation programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain cloud-based data integrations using Informatica Cloud (IICS).
- Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform and load data between business applications and the data warehouse.
- Contribute to the integration workstream and support the transformation of the ERP environment.
- Work with stakeholders to understand data challenges and translate business requirements into technical integration solutions.
- Develop and maintain data warehouse processes and data models supporting business intelligence solutions.
- Integrate data through APIs and other application-to-application integration methods.
- Re-engineer manual data flows into automated, scalable and maintainable processes.
- Perform data warehouse lifecycle activities including analysis, development, testing, implementation and monitoring.
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition and improvements to existing data flows.
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering integrations, processes and data flows.
- Champion best practices across data engineering, data quality, testing, security and technical delivery.
- Work within an agile delivery environment, using Azure DevOps to support development and release processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
