About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Applications and DevOps team based at our Head Office on the Gateshead Quayside.
As a Data Engineer, you’ll work with a team of problem-solvers to build and improve solutions that help the business move forward. The team is centered around driving business efficiency, lowering risk, and improving the value we can drive to our customers. We are a fast-paced and ambitious company; we’re looking for someone with the passion to match.
An enthusiastic and proactive approach is vital as you'll be instrumental in helping drive technical innovation and allowing the company to achieve peak performance. What You Will Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Implement data engineering best practices and methodologies, ensuring data integrity, security, and quality.
- Work with structured and unstructured data sources, transforming them into valuable business insights.
- Develop, test, and deploy robust, production-ready code using relevant programming languages and data technologies.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval solutions to ensure high performance and cost efficiency.
- Deploy and manage data infrastructure within Azure.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and tools to improve data engineering processes.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to understand data challenges and requirements and deliver solutions through to adoption.

You Will Suit the Role If You Have
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, lakehouses, and data transformations using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, or related Azure services.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control, and DevOps practices related to data engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL (T-SQL / SparkSQL) for data manipulation, transformation, and querying.
- Solid understanding and practical application of Data Vault and Kimball data modeling methodologies.
- Experience designing and optimizing ETL/ELT workflows for large-scale data processing.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance best practices.

Salary
£40,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location and Working Arrangements
You will be based at Aspire’s Gateshead Head Office with travel as required.
Hours of Work
Full-time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday.

Interview Process
We generally conduct interviews in three stages, lasting approximately 2-3 weeks depending on everyone’s calendars.
