My client, a leading US-based discretionary hedge fund, is seeking a strong Data Engineer to join their London team.
This role sits within a front-office technology environment, focused on building and maintaining high-quality data infrastructure that supports trading, research, and portfolio analytics across a multi-asset platform.
You will play a key role in developing scalable data pipelines and ensuring reliable access to clean, well-structured data used by portfolio managers, analysts, and technologists. The position offers strong ownership across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion through to delivery in production systems.
Working within a collaborative and high-impact team, you will partner closely with both technical and business stakeholders to improve data quality, accessibility, and overall platform robustness.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to transform raw datasets into usable formats for analytics and trading
- Work closely with stakeholders to onboard and integrate external and internal data sources
- Develop and maintain data validation and quality controls to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Support production data workflows, troubleshooting issues and ensuring reliable data availability
- Contribute to improving data architecture, standards, and documentation across the platform
- Collaborate with engineering and front-office teams to enhance data accessibility and usability
- Participate in maintaining system stability and availability, including occasional out-of-hours support where required
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building data pipelines in a financial or trading environment
- Strong programming skills in Python (including pandas or similar libraries)
- Solid experience working with SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with modern data tools and frameworks (e.g. cloud storage, workflow orchestration, messaging systems)
- Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources
- Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
- Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
