Azure Data Engineer | Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Terraform, GitLab | Award-Winning Public Services Consultancy | ****SC eligible ****

Salary: Up to £80,000
Manchester, Leeds, Blackpool or Newcastle: hybrid, 3 days a week on site
SC eligibility required (5 years continuous UK residency)

Our client is a multi-award-winning digital consultancy that builds and runs services for UK government departments, the sort of platforms tens of millions of people end up using without ever thinking about it. This role is a hands-on engineering seat on their data team, where you'll design, build and support the Azure data platforms underneath that work.

You'll build pipelines in Azure Data Factory (ADF), model and optimise in Synapse, store and process in Data Lake, and stand the whole lot up as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, deployed through GitLab CI/CD. Three days a week on site is fixed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Join / Projects

The work is public service data, so it matters and it gets used. You'll see the thing you built carrying real caseloads rather than sitting in a proof of concept, across departments and problems instead of maintaining one warehouse for years.

You get proper ownership of the platform side. Infrastructure goes in as code, pipelines go out through CI/CD, and you have room to argue for the design you think is right rather than picking up someone else's finished blueprint. Where the engineering practice needs tightening up, that's yours to take on. SC clearance opens up the more interesting projects once you're through it.
