Role Overview
As a Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement data solutions using cloud-based services, focusing on Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake Storage. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand business requirements, troubleshoot data issues, and deliver robust solutions that enhance data accessibility and analytics.
You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the long-term growth of the team. Career progression towards technical architecture and leadership roles is encouraged.
While prior experience with integration tools like Logic Apps is advantageous, it is not required. A background in Python, Scala, or SQL development is preferred.

This is a customer-facing role, so strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach are essential. You should be able to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
- Implement data models and analytics solutions using Synapse Analytics and Data Lake Storage.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes to maintain data integrity and performance.
- Ensure data solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues efficiently.
- Document technical solutions and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
About the Candidate
- Experience in data engineering with Microsoft Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake Storage.
- Strong Python, Scala, or SQL development background.
- Understanding of data modelling and analytics solutions.
- Ability to work in a customer-facing role, engaging effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Self-sufficient, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Advantageous
- Experience with Logic Apps and integration tools.
- Familiarity with data frameworks (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform).
- Exposure to machine learning and AI solutions.
- Understanding PowerShell and Azure.
