Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance digital infrastructure within a fast-paced and growing proteomics-based HealthTech startup.

This role will be central to enabling robust data management in a regulated production laboratory environment, supporting automation of scientific computing workflows and laboratory systems integration.

The successful candidate will work closely with bioinformaticians, laboratory scientists, and IT teams to deliver reliable, production-grade scientific computing and laboratory data systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and automate production scientific workflows, including orchestration, monitoring, logging, error handling, and reproducible execution.
  • Integrate laboratory systems with computational workflows, including LIMS, data stores, analysis pipelines, and reporting systems.
  • Support the maintenance of cloud computing architecture and databases.
  • Implement technical controls supporting compliance with applicable data-protection and quality requirements, including UK GDPR and HIPAA where relevant.
  • Document computational architecture, standards, and systems workflows to ensure reproducibility and maintainability.
  • Collaborate across teams to translate business and research requirements into technical solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
