Data Engineer

Every business has data it can't quite trust. The numbers are all there, but nobody is confident enough to act on them, and building AI on top of them is out of the question. My client, a long-established global asset management firm, has decided to fix that, and they need a few Data Engineers to help.

You'll join the firm's Enterprise Data team in the City, working alongside the people who manage money for clients around the world. Your week might start with a business expert who has an idea for how AI could change their work. You'll shape that idea with them, then build what sits underneath it: Snowflake pipelines, dbt models, Python and clean SQL, all tested, reviewed and shipped through CI/CD, with Airflow keeping it running. After that comes the part most data engineers rarely get to do. Using Snowflake Cortex, you'll turn that data into working AI use cases that people across the firm actually use. When something breaks, you'll fix it, and you'll write it up so the next person has an easier time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

It's a regulated industry, but the team is friendly, relaxed and willing to back good ideas. They want someone curious and down to earth who owns their work from start to finish and asks questions rather than guessing. Experience with Cortex is a real advantage, but genuine interest counts too.
