About The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to join a major programme of digital transformation, helping shape a new data environment from the ground up for this Ipswich-based business. The organization currently operates around 20 different business systems, with very limited integration between them. You will play a key role in changing that - designing the data architecture, building APIs and pipelines to bring information together, and ensuring meaningful, trusted data is available to BI and analytics teams.
There is a significant amount of greenfield work, giving you the opportunity to influence both the immediate technical solution and the longer-term data strategy. This role offers a unique chance to work on innovative projects, develop new solutions, and contribute to the organization’s digital transformation journey.

To be successful, you will need proven experience working as a Data Engineer, with strong technical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, BI specialists, and IT professionals, to deliver scalable and efficient data solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Data Engineer within a complex data environment
- Strong SQL skills and expertise in data modeling and database design
- Experience designing and building APIs, data integrations, and pipelines
- Good understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, and cloud data platforms
- Hands-on experience with Azure technologies
- Experience developing ETL/ELT solutions and data transformation processes
- Knowledge of Python, PySpark, and streaming technologies is advantageous
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data architecture and pipelines to support business needs
- Build and maintain APIs and integrations to connect disparate systems effectively
- Collaborate with BI and analytics teams to ensure data quality and availability
- Implement best practices for data security, governance, and compliance
- Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Participate in the development of the organization’s data strategy and roadmap
- Maintain documentation of data processes and architecture
- Stay updated with emerging data technologies and industry trends to continuously improve solutions
