About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious graduate to join our Energy Storage team.
As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with our Network and SCADA team, alongside control systems and commissioning specialists, supporting the OT networks, SCADA/EMS platforms and data systems behind our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Europe.

Your focus will be on system configuration, data analysis, testing and commissioning, ensuring that site data is reliable and usable for engineering and performance analysis, while supporting compliance with GDPR and relevant data requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain network configurations (Set up VLANs, IP addressing schemes, routing, NAT, and firewall rules) on Linux-based servers within BESS sites according to project network designs and cybersecurity requirements.
- Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN tunnels
- Automate repetitive deployment tasks using programming tools
- Support FAT, SAT and site commissioning, both remotely and on site. This includes verifying communication paths and resolving connectivity issues.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, IP plans, and configuration baselines and changes.
- Help apply OT cybersecurity practices in line with IEC 62443 and customer or TSO requirements, such as hardening, access control, and logging.
- Work with SCADA developers, commissioning engineers, EPC contractors, and customer IT teams to resolve issues and keep the network and SCADA systems reliable.
- Configure and maintain SCADA and local EMS systems: signal/IO lists, tag mapping, scaling, alarm and event configuration, HMI screens, trends and historian points.
- Set up and validate protocol gateways and data links between PCS, BMS, HVAC, power meters, protection relays and the site SCADA/EMS.
- Support data acquisition, archiving and reporting — historian configuration, data extraction, and building dashboards or reports for performance, availability and fault analysis.
- Manage SCADA software versions, configuration backups and restoration procedures for site servers.

Essential requirements
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's), or you are graduating in 2026/27.
- Working knowledge of Linux, including the command line, file system, users and permissions, systemd, package management, and editing configuration files.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals: the TCP/IP stack, subnetting, routing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
- Experience with Linux and network tooling such as ip, ss, tcpdump, iptables/nftables, ping, traceroute, netplan or NetworkManager, and remote access / file transfer clients such as MobaXterm, PuTTY, WinSCP or SecureCRT.
- Awareness of SCADA / EMS concepts: tags and signal lists, polling and scan rates, alarms and events, historians, and basic HMI design principles.
- Ability to read and work from a protocol mapping table (register addresses, data types, scaling, byte order) and an electrical or network schematic.
- Basic scripting ability in Bash and/or Python.
- A methodical approach to troubleshooting and a careful attitude to documentation and change control.
- Fluent English. German or French is a strong plus.
- Willingness to travel to project sites in Europe (roughly 10 to 25% of your time).
