Role: Data Engineer (GCP / BigQuery / AI Data Pipelines)
Hybrid: 1 day per week in Central London
Package: Up to £65,000 + discretionary annual bonus of up to 5% after 12 months
The Role
We are hiring a Data Engineer to join a growing Data & BI function within an established international technology-focused business.
You will help build and improve a modern cloud data estate and a developing intelligence platform, creating the pipelines, integrations and data products that turn raw information into commercially useful insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines, integrations and orchestration workflows
- Developing and improving a BigQuery-based data warehouse
- Writing Python services and scripts for ingestion, transformation, validation and automation
- Bringing together data from APIs, internal systems, spreadsheets and external providers
- Supporting AI/LLM-enabled workflows for classification, enrichment, extraction and summarisation
- Improving data quality, reliability, documentation, performance and security
- Working closely with analysts, product, sales and commercial stakeholders

The Person
You will be a proactive Data Engineer who enjoys solving practical problems and can communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues.

You will ideally have:
- Strong data-engineering experience across ingestion, transformation, modelling and pipeline development
- Practical GCP experience, particularly BigQuery
- Strong Python and SQL capability
- Experience with orchestration, scheduling and cloud-based data services
- Exposure to Cloud Run, Dataform, dbt, Fivetran, Docker, Git and CI/CD
- Experience or interest in AI/LLM-enabled data workflows, particularly with unstructured data
- A clear, confident communication style and the ability to explain technical decisions
- The hunger to take ownership quickly rather than wait for a perfectly defined brief
Google Cloud certification would be useful but is not essential. Practical GCP experience, sound judgement and the ability to discuss real examples will matter more.
