Data Engineering Lead
£70,000 - £90,000
London (1 day a week in office)
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth consumer business as its first dedicated data hire. You'll have the chance to take ownership of an evolving data function, improve existing infrastructure, drive automation, and play a key role in shaping how the organisation uses data to support commercial decision-making. The Company
This fast-growing consumer business operates across multiple sales channels and international markets. Having experienced rapid growth and increasing operational complexity, they have invested in building the foundations of a modern data platform and are now looking to bring greater ownership and expertise in-house.
The business has already established a cloud-based data environment and is committed to becoming increasingly data-driven. As they continue to scale, data will play a critical role in supporting commercial performance, customer growth, operational efficiency, and future AI initiatives.

The Role
As a Data Engineering Lead you will be responsible for developing and enhancing the organisation's data capability while acting as the internal expert across engineering, analytics, reporting, and automation.
Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:
- Building, maintaining, and improving data pipelines and integrations
- Managing and developing the data warehouse and transformation layers
- Driving automation of manual reporting and analysis processes
- Supporting business stakeholders with trusted reporting and insights
- Developing dashboards and BI solutions using Power BI
- Integrating new data sources, including subscription and recurring revenue data
- Improving data quality, documentation, governance, and accessibility
- Working closely with commercial, marketing, and operational teams
- Contributing to the organisation's longer-term AI and data strategy
- Helping shape and grow the future data function

Skills and Experience
The successful Data Engineering Lead will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses, ideally BigQuery
- Knowledge of dbt or similar transformation frameworks
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
- Exposure to BI and dashboarding tools, particularly Power BI
- Experience working with customer, marketing, revenue, or operational data
- Understanding of subscription, recurring revenue, or customer lifecycle analytics
- Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in a growing business
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

- Salary between £70,000 - £90,000 - depending on experience
