Data Engineering Lead – Azure / Fabric – Wealth Management
Orbis are proudly working with a mid-sized Wealth Management group who are building a modern data platform on Microsoft Fabric to support the business as it scales. They are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of the platform's Design, Architecture, and hands-on build from the ground up.
As Lead Data Engineer, this is an incredible opportunity to be the firm's most senior data specialist, working directly with an experienced Investment Management CTO to build out a first-in-class data platform in Microsoft Fabric.

- Lead the design, architecture and hands-on build of the new Data Platform – phasing out the legacy Microsoft estate and replacing it with Microsoft Fabric
- Working directly with stakeholders across the organisation to understand how the data team can best add value and solve business needs.
- Set the technical direction as the team scales - building pipelines and infrastructure as code, leading the team, working directly with the CTO on architecture decisions, and acting as the technical authority for the data function.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- (Essential) 8+ years’ experience in a hands-on Data Engineering or similar role including writing production ETL/ELT pipelines and SQL transformation logic.
- (Essential) Strong, demonstrable experience with Microsoft Fabric is essential
- Prior experience building or migrating to a new Data Platform, ideally Microsoft based
- Experience designing or implementing medallion or comparable layered data quality architectures (raw, validated, reporting-ready).
- Comfortable being the most senior hands-on Data Engineering SME in a mid-sized firm
