Are you an experienced Lead/Principal Data Engineer looking for the opportunity to shape the future of a modern data platform?
We're looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead a talented engineering team through an exciting transformation from a traditional SQL data warehouse to a modern Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact, influence technical direction, and help build a data platform that supports innovation across a large, international organisation.
You'll join a growing Technology function and lead a high performing team of Data Engineers, working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Infrastructure, Service teams, and regional data partners to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality data products.
This is a strategic leadership role where you'll balance people management, technical guidance, and delivery excellence while helping shape the future of the organisation's data capabilities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, mentor and develop a high performing Data Engineering team, creating a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive the delivery of valuable, high quality data products through iterative, outcome focused delivery.
- Guide technical decision making and support architectural trade offs across the data platform.
- Champion engineering best practices, platform reliability, observability and operational excellence.
- Continuously improve team processes using feedback and metrics to increase quality and delivery speed.
- Partner closely with Product Managers to shape roadmaps, prioritise work and balance short-term delivery with long term platform health.
- Collaborate with senior technology stakeholders to help define the future direction of the organisation's data estate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
