Data Engineering Manager
London (3 Days a week) | £90,000 + 20%-40% Bonus
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a critical Data Engineering function during a major cloud transformation programme. You'll combine technical leadership with people management, helping shape the future of a modern enterprise data platform.
The Company
They are a large, data-driven aviation organisation investing heavily in modern technology and cloud infrastructure. Data plays a central role in business decision-making, and significant investment is being made to modernise platforms, processes, and engineering capabilities. This role will have meaningful influence on both technology direction and team development.
The Role
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable data pipelines
- Manage and develop a team of Data Engineers
- Drive cloud adoption and modern engineering practices
- Oversee data operations, reliability, and platform performance
- Work closely with Analytics, Architecture, and Technology teams
- Establish engineering standards, governance, and delivery processes
- Prioritise workloads and support successful project delivery
- Contribute to a major migration from legacy systems to a cloud-native environment
- Ensure compliance with data governance requirements

Your Skills & Experience
- Strong experience leading Data Engineering functions or teams
- Advanced SQL expertise and database optimisation knowledge
- Hands-on experience with AWS technologies including S3, Glue, Lambda, and EC2
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modelling principles
- Experience with Snowflake and modern cloud data platforms
- Python development skills
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Knowledge of streaming technologies and real-time data processing
- Experience implementing CI/CD and engineering best practices
