Data Engineering Manager / Lead Data Engineer

Up to £100,000 + Benefits
Remote (1-2 days per month in Bristol)
Lead. Build. Transform.

Are you a Data Engineering Manager who still loves getting hands-on with technology?
We're partnering with an international organisation undergoing a large-scale data transformation, moving from traditional data warehousing (SQL Server) to a modern Databricks Lakehouse platform. As part of this journey, they're looking for a technically strong Data Engineering Manager who can balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on engineering and platform ownership.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a federated Databricks environment used across multiple countries, whilst remaining deeply involved in architecture, engineering, and delivery.

The Opportunity

This isn't a role where you'll spend your days in back-to-back meetings. The split is roughly:

  • 50% Hands-On Engineering - building Databricks pipelines, platform administration, automation, and technical leadership
  • 25% People Leadership - mentoring and managing 5-6 Data Engineers
  • 25% Project & Stakeholder Coordination - helping teams deliver successfully as the organisation scales its modern data platform

You'll join a collaborative team of around 20 engineers who are passionate about technology, innovation, and solving complex data challenges. The culture is highly supportive, low-ego, and focused on doing great work together.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
