A large media client is currently seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to join a high-profile data transformation programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly engaging and commercially aware Data Governance professional to play a pivotal role in driving data governance adoption, data literacy and business engagement across the organisation.
Working within a modern data environment, you will help shape and embed a culture where data is trusted, understood and effectively used to support decision-making. You will work closely with stakeholders across business and technology functions, helping to increase the adoption of data governance frameworks, data catalogue capabilities and self-service analytics tools.
This role would suit somebody who combines strong data governance expertise with exceptional stakeholder management, communication and training capabilities. Experience with Alation is required for this position.
This is an initial 6-month contract with a daily rate up to £550 per day inside IR35 via an Umbrella company. The role is based in Central London with hybrid working available (2-3 days per week onsite, Thursday mandatory)
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Enablement
- Drive the adoption and embedding of data governance practices across the organisation.
- Develop and implement data literacy and data enablement initiatives aligned to governance objectives.
- Define learning pathways and training frameworks for a wide range of stakeholders including Data Owners, Data Stewards and business users.
- Establish and track success measures, engagement metrics and programme KPIs.
- Provide guidance on governance policies, standards and best practices.

Training, Learning & Adoption
- Design and deliver engaging governance and data literacy training programmes.
- Create workshops, presentations, user guides and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and adoption events across multiple business functions.
- Implement skills assessments and feedback mechanisms to measure learning outcomes.
- Support organisational change initiatives and data adoption programmes.
Data Catalogue & Knowledge Management
- Support the ongoing enhancement and adoption of the organisation's enterprise data catalogue.
- Drive engagement with business glossaries, metadata repositories and governance assets.
- Partner with platform vendors and internal teams to maximise platform value.
- Support the onboarding of new business areas into the catalogue environment.
- Champion best practice in metadata management, data discovery and information governance.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships across business and technology teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor on data governance, literacy and enablement matters.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Develop tailored adoption plans for data products, dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Establish and grow a network of Data Champions across the organisation.

Modern Data Environment
- Work closely with Data Product, Data Engineering, Analytics and Governance teams.
- Promote the effective use of reporting, analytics and self-service data capabilities.
- Support the rollout and adoption of modern data platform tools and processes.
- Ensure governance principles are embedded throughout the data lifecycle.
Essential Experience
We're keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience delivering data governance, data literacy or data enablement programmes.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practice.
- Experience working within modern data environments and data transformation initiatives.
- Experience creating learning programmes, training frameworks and adoption strategies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with both business and technology teams.
- Experience working with Data Owners, Data Stewards and governance communities.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise data catalogues.
- Experience driving adoption and engagement of governance tools and platforms.
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, data quality and business glossaries.
Experience using:
- Alation (highly desirable)
- Tableau
- Power BI
- Experience collaborating with Data Engineers, BI teams, Architects and Product teams.
- Strong presentation, facilitation and workshop delivery skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
