Data Governance and Controls Analyst

Industry: Asset Management

Location: London

Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days office based / 2 days WFH

We have an exciting new opportunity for a 2 x Data Governance and Controls Analysts ideally with Collibra and Snowflake to join Robert Walters as a Consultant.

As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment with one of our clients, a British Asset Management company. In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support.

The Role:

This is a hands-on role focused on improving the governance, quality and control of critical data across Wealth. You'll work closely with business and technology stakeholders to ensure data is clearly defined, appropriately owned, reliable, traceable and fit for use.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify, define and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs), including ownership, definitions, source systems and business context.
  • Support governance of Data Products, including quality expectations, lineage, controls and approved usage.
  • Develop and implement data-quality rules, checks and controls, including thresholds, monitoring and evidence.
  • Profile priority data and investigate data-quality issues, exceptions and root causes.
  • Maintain data governance and control inventories and track remediation through to resolution.
  • Capture and maintain data lineage, dependencies and material transformations.
  • Assess governance and control requirements against policies and standards.
  • Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Product Owners and technology teams to resolve data issues and strengthen controls.
  • Produce reporting and dashboards covering data quality, CDEs, controls, exceptions and remediation.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for experience in data governance, data quality, data controls, data management, data analysis or business analysis, ideally within a regulated financial-services environment.

You should have practical experience with areas such as:

  • Data governance, ownership and stewardship
  • Data quality and profiling
  • Metadata and data catalogues
  • Data lineage
  • Control design, monitoring and evidence
  • Exception management and remediation
  • Working with business and technical stakeholders
  • Technology & domain experience

Experience with at least one of the following is highly desirable:

  • Collibra
  • Snowflake
  • Data-quality / data catalogue tools
  • SQL
  • Data lineage tools

Experience with Snowflake AI / Cortex or other AI applications would be an advantage.

Wealth or Asset Management experience is beneficial, as is exposure to:

  • Aladdin - particularly desirable
  • Backbase - particularly desirable
  • Temenos

The opportunity

This is a long-term programme running to at least the end of 2027, with likely extension beyond this, offering the opportunity to work on a major Wealth Data Foundations initiative within a leading British Asset Management organisation.
