Business Analyst – Data Governance - Full-time / Hybrid 3 days on site
We’re recruiting a Business Analyst to join our client’s Data and AI team, helping improve how data is managed, understood and used across the business.
This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with experience in data governance who enjoys translating business needs into practical improvements. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to strengthen data quality, ownership, and discoverability.
What you’ll be doing
- Gathering requirements and translating them into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritised backlogs.
- Mapping current and future processes, data flows, responsibilities, and governance controls.
- Supporting the configuration, adoption, and business use of Microsoft Purview, including cataloguing, business glossaries, classifications, lineage, and data quality.
- Helping establish data ownership, stewardship, metadata standards, and data issue management processes.
- Facilitating workshops to agree on requirements, validate processes, and align stakeholders.
- Using SQL, reporting tools, or data profiling outputs to investigate data quality issues and recommend improvements.
- Working with engineering, analytics, architecture, security, and compliance teams to embed governance into solution design.

What we’re looking for
- Proven business analysis experience within data, analytics, governance, compliance, or transformation programmes.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or similar, including Data Map, Unified Catalog, glossaries, lineage, classifications, and collections.
- A strong understanding of data governance, ownership, stewardship, metadata, and data quality.
- Confident stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- The ability to turn complex or ambiguous requirements into clear documentation and deliverable actions.
- Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio, or Microsoft 365.
- A pragmatic approach to data privacy, security, and responsible AI use.
