Engagement: Contract

Overview
iO Associates is currently engaging with an established consultancy on behalf of a key UK Central Government client to secure an experienced Data Governance Consultant. Operating under an outcome-based Statement of Work, you will lead discovery, design, and execution across enterprise data governance, data quality, and metadata management programmes.
Key Deliverables
- Conduct data governance discovery phases: lead business team interviews, map key processes, and establish comprehensive data asset inventories.
- Design and implement data governance strategies, operating models, framework artefacts, and workflow processes aligned to departmental data standards.
- Define technical and business metadata requirements, map end-to-end data lineage, and configure scanning/ingestion schedules for enterprise data catalogs.
- Establish data quality frameworks: build data quality rules, define monitoring metrics/thresholds, design remediation workflows, and implement automated monitoring.
- Support Master Data Management (MDM) enhancements, including key element definition, data cleansing/enrichment logic, match/merge rules, and stewardship approval workflows.
- Upskill client teams through formal stewardship training, embedding policy compliance, data standards, and operational best practices.

Requirements

- Proven background in data governance consultancy, advisory and implementation within UK public-sector or complex multi-stakeholder enterprise environments.
- Hands-on implementation experience with industry-standard governance platforms (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, or Ataccama).
- Deep practical knowledge across metadata management, lineage, data quality automation, and MDM principles.
- Strong workshop facilitation and client-enablement skills, translating governance policies into operational workflows.
- SC Clearance mandatory
