Data Governance Consultant
£650-£750 per day (Inside IR35) Long-Term Contract West London (1 day per week onsite)
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Consultant to join a major transformation programme for a leading organisation. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a technically strong governance professional who can help shape, enhance, and mature the organisation's data governance framework.
This role requires a consultant who can operate across both the technical and governance domains, combining hands-on data modelling expertise with the ability to define policies, standards, and governance structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and enhance enterprise-wide data governance frameworks.
- Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Establish effective governance structures, processes, and stakeholder interactions across the organisation.
- Create and review conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Support the end-to-end lifecycle of data modelling activities across key business domains.
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure governance requirements are embedded within data platforms and solutions.
- Define and implement data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
- Assess current governance maturity and recommend improvements to strengthen existing approaches.
- Drive adoption of governance processes and support wider data management initiatives.

Required Experience
- Proven experience delivering Data Governance initiatives within large, complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, operating models, and organisational governance structures.
- Hands-on experience creating and managing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Experience developing data governance policies, standards, controls, and procedures.
- Demonstrable experience delivering end-to-end data modelling engagements.
- Ability to bridge the gap between technical delivery teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience enhancing and maturing existing data governance approaches and capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience
- Background in enterprise data management, metadata management, or data quality.
- Experience working within cloud-based data platforms.
- Familiarity with data cataloguing, lineage, and governance tooling.
- Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, or data risk initiatives.
