As part of Project Velocity, we're building a culture where data is owned, understood, governed and used with confidence. To help us achieve that, we're looking for a Data Governance Lead to join our growing Data & Analytics team in Gaydon. This role sits within Information Technology and reports to the Data & BI Manager. It plays a central role in ensuring the data that supports our decisions, products and operations is trusted, accessible, controlled, auditable and fit for purpose.
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity. Someone who can work comfortably with both technical teams and business stakeholders, creating practical governance frameworks that enable progress rather than creating barriers. You'll help define how data ownership, stewardship, quality, lineage and governance operate across the organisation, ensuring that governance becomes a business enabler rather than a compliance exercise.
In this role, you'll lead the implementation and continuous improvement of data governance practices across Aston Martin's priority data domains and products. You'll work closely with Data Engineers, Analysts, Data Administrators, business stakeholders, Cyber & Information Security and IT Governance teams to establish clear ownership models, maintain business glossaries, improve data quality and ensure governance standards are embedded by design. You'll help embed practical minimum governance standards covering ownership, stewardship, definitions, classification, source of truth, lineage, data quality rules, access routes, retention and issue management. You'll facilitate discussions, resolve data-related challenges and create the visibility needed for informed decision-making.

You'll be someone who enjoys influencing people, building relationships and driving accountability. Rather than owning every problem yourself, you'll help bring the right people together, ensuring business ownership is clear and decisions are made with confidence. This is a lead/specialist role with functional leadership expectations: you may coordinate Data Administrators, Data Stewards, business owners or delivery contributors on specific governance activities, while providing guidance, coaching and appropriate challenge across ownership, glossary, quality and stewardship disciplines. Your ability to balance governance, delivery pace and business needs will be essential as you help shape a modern, practical approach to data management.
You'll also monitor governance adoption, compliance and exception trends, reporting clear recommendations to the Data & BI Manager and escalating unresolved ownership, definition, access or quality issues where decisions are needed.
We're interested in people who have experience in data governance, data quality, master data, business intelligence, analytics or wider enterprise data disciplines. You'll likely have worked with concepts such as data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality management, classification, retention, responsible data use and access governance. Experience working with governance tools, catalogues, business glossaries, data quality platforms or cloud analytics platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or Power BI would be beneficial. Experience in complex enterprise, manufacturing, automotive, ERP, CRM or PLM data environments, and exposure to data protection, GDPR, audit or assurance evidence, would also be advantageous. What's most important is your ability to engage stakeholders, build trust and turn governance principles into practical outcomes.

This is a hybrid role based from Gaydon, with the expectation of being in the office, on average, two days per week. You'll join a team that believes governance should increase trust, speed and ownership, not bureaucracy. It's an opportunity to make a genuine impact by helping shape how data is managed across one of the world's most iconic luxury automotive brands. Occasional travel to other Aston Martin sites, suppliers or partners may be required, with occasional out-of-hours involvement during critical data issue resolution, audit evidence preparation, major releases or business-critical reporting events.

Relevant professional experience is essential; degree-level education or professional training in data governance, data quality, data protection, DAMA, DCAM, CIMP, Power BI, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, agile, service management, product management or business analysis would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
