Data Governance Manager – 6-month Fixed Term contract - £70-80K base + benefits – Chiswick (hybrid)
We are looking for a Data Governance Manager to join a client based in Chiswick for a 6-month temporary contract, on a fixed term basis. The main focus for the short assignment would be selection of a Data Catalog tool (experience with Collibra or Alation highly preferred) and definition of Data Governance Framework.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, data users, and senior leadership to establish and enforce data governance best practices, assigning accountability for various aspects of data management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Governance Framework: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain an effective data governance framework. Ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals, focusing on data quality, security, privacy, and compliance.
- Data Catalog: Work closely with all internal stakeholders to create comprehensive and clear business definitions, ensuring a standardized understanding of key data concepts across the organization. Link the emerging business glossary with associated metrics and data to create a complete lineage. Document current Data Architecture and implement a Data Catalog tool and drive its adoption and optimization, ensuring correct data profiling, lineage, cataloging, and classification to promote data quality, transparency, and accessibility.
- Data Quality: Establish and maintain standards, metrics, and processes for data quality assessment, monitoring, and improvement. Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to address data quality issues and ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Data Ownership and Stewardship: Establish practices to govern data ownership, accountability, and data issue resolution. Create a network of domain data stewards to develop and adhere to data governance policies and guidelines.
- Communication and Training: Communicate the value of data governance and its impact on decision-making to business stakeholders, promoting a data-driven culture within the organization. Develop training materials and conduct data governance awareness sessions for employees to promote understanding and adoption of data governance principles.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Implement systems for monitoring adherence to data governance policies and measuring the success of data governance initiatives. Generate regular reports for Senior Leadership on key data governance metrics and activities.

Key skills and experience:
- Strong experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, applying information management best practices including information lifecycle management, data modelling, and master data management.
- Proven track record of leading data-related projects, providing strategic direction, and implementing an organization-wide Data Governance Framework.
- Demonstrated experience in leading Data Quality initiatives.
- Proven hands-on experience of deploying Data Catalog tools (either Collibra or Alation or Attaccama, but others such as Informatica and Microsoft Purview will be considered).
- Proven hands-on experience of deploying Data Quality tools (preferred Anomalo, but others will be considered).
- Strongly preferred experience of healthcare data analytics.
- Preferred experience in managing teams of data professionals.
