Who You Will Be Working With
You will join the Data Trust Capability in Capgemini’s Insights and Data (I&D) business unit. Insights and Data is a global business unit covering Enterprise Data Management, Cloud Platforms, Enterprise Content Management and AI & Analytics.
Our team is one of the largest and most successful Data Management teams in the UK delivering innovative Data Management and Governance thought leadership to our clients.
The Enterprise Data Management provides services on Information Strategy, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Migration and Lifecycle Management.
We help our clients build an enterprise-class data platform that allows them to move ahead in their journey of data and insights. Primarily working with leading software vendors like SAP, Informatica, IBM, Oracle et al, the team are first and foremost Consultants, putting client requirements and industry best practices at the heart of delivery.

The Focus Of Your Role
We are seeking senior, delivery-focused leader with strong client-facing experience to drive Data Governance adoption, specifically by implementing Microsoft Purview based capability. You will advise senior clients stakeholder groups as to how to use Purview to support Data Governance outcomes across operational domains, by enlisting the support of the relevant Business Data Owners, Data Stewards and other Data SMEs, by providing Data Management expertise and by communicating the conceptual vision.[DP1.1]
The Senior Data Governance Consultant for Microsoft Purview is responsible for designing, leading, and delivering enterprise scale data governance, compliance, risk, and security solutions using the Microsoft Purview suite. This role ensures organisations maximise the value of their data estate while maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal governance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop the conceptual vision of a Purview based implementation in terms of outcomes, value and capability milestones.
- Design end to end Microsoft Purview solutions across Data Governance, Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk, eDiscovery, and Records Management.
- Develop scalable architecture and integration patterns aligned with enterprise standards and security frameworks.
- Lead discovery workshops to translate business, regulatory, and technical requirements into architectural designs.
- Define Purview deployment roadmaps, operating models, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure architectural compliance with data protection, privacy, and regulatory obligations
- Lead technical delivery teams through implementation, configuration, and optimisation
- Oversee integration with Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, on premises repositories, and third party systems.
- Provide expert guidance on labelling, classification, retention, data lifecycle, and governance workflows.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and lead resolution across data platforms, security, and identity domains.
- Act as the primary technical advisor for client senior stakeholders
- Produce high quality architectural documentation, solution designs, and presentations.
- Support organisations in developing data governance strategies and Purview adoption plans.

What You Will Bring
As a Senior Data Governance Consultant for Microsoft Purview you will have 8–12+ years in architecture roles across data, security, compliance, or cloud platforms, with proven experience delivering enterprise scale Microsoft Purview solutions. You’ll have a strong background in Microsoft 365, Azure, and data security/governance programmes.
Experience:
- Microsoft Purview Data Governance - Data Map, Data Catalog, Scanning, Lineage, Business Glossary
- Purview Information Protection - Sensitivity labels, auto labelling, encryption, MIP SDK
- Purview Data Loss Prevention - M365, Endpoint, Cloud Apps/SaaS, Insider Risk indicators
- Records Management & Retention
- eDiscovery (Standard & Premium)
- Insider Risk Management
- Integration with the wider MS Azure related components of storage, SQL, Power BI and SharePoint/OneDrive
- Integration with third party connectors and on premises data sources
- Metadata management, cataloguing, lineage, classification, and data lifecycle concepts.
- Azure Active Directory / Entra ID identity governance and the Azure data services specifically Synapse, Data Factory, Purview scanning configuration
Skills & Competencies:
- Enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, SABSA, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of data classification models, and risk scoring
- Ability to design and optimise enterprise Purview deployments
- Knowledge of KQL, PowerShell, and Microsoft Graph is a plus.
- Capability to analyse unstructured and structured data estates
- Ability to lead technical teams and influence senior leadership
- Ability to work across cross functional teams (Data, Security, Risk, Compliance, IT Ops)

- AZ 305: Azure Solutions Architect
- MS 500: M365 Security Administrator
