About the Role
We are working with a leading organisation that is looking for a Data & Infrastructure Platform Lead to join the company at an exciting time of transformation.
As the Data & Infrastructure Platform Team Lead, you will lead the Data & Infrastructure Platform (DIP) team, providing both technical leadership and people management. You will be responsible for defining and executing the technical strategy for our clients cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and internal technology services.
Their Product Engineering teams are your primary customers. Your mission is to provide them with secure, reliable, and self-service platforms that enable them to build, release, and operate software efficiently. You will also own the release, monitoring, and operational safety mechanisms that allow teams to deploy frequently, confidently, and safely test changes in production.
In addition, the DIP team is responsible for our clients internal IT services, ensuring systems meet contractual commitments and agreed service levels. Our technology stack is primarily based on Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, and Intune, alongside a small number of development and testing environments hosted in AWS and GCP.
Key Responsibilities
Technology & Platform Leadership
- Define and drive the technical direction for cloud infrastructure, data, and platform services, aligning with the wider engineering strategy.
- Operate the platform as a product, working closely with engineering teams to understand their needs and deliver self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity.
- Own the CI/CD pipelines and the monitoring, alerting, rollback, and recovery mechanisms that enable safe, frequent software releases.
- Lead the strategy and governance of the data platform, ensuring data is stored, managed, secured, and governed effectively while meeting compliance requirements.
- Ensure platform and infrastructure services consistently meet service level objectives (SLOs) and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead major incident management for both platform services and internal IT systems, facilitating post-incident reviews and driving corrective actions.
- Maintain a secure, resilient, and well-managed internal IT environment that meets operational and business requirements.
- Define team objectives and key results, monitor progress, and provide regular updates through monthly management reporting.
- Collaborate across the business to improve processes, technology adoption, and ways of working.

As the line manager for the DIP team, you will:
- Inspire, coach, and mentor team members, supporting both individual growth and overall team development.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and facilitate effective team ceremonies and communication.
- Lead meaningful quarterly career development conversations, helping individuals create and achieve personal development plans.
- Identify training and development opportunities while proactively addressing performance concerns where required.
- Evaluate team capabilities against business objectives and future strategic requirements.
- Provide performance feedback and reporting to support annual review and remuneration processes.
- Manage holiday approvals and support employee wellbeing through effective absence management.
- Foster an open, collaborative, and inclusive team culture where feedback, innovation, and continuous improvement are encouraged.

About You
We're looking for a leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for developing people and delivering reliable services.
You will:
- Be passionate about building dependable, secure services that customers and colleagues can trust.
- Have significant hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, Continuous Delivery, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Remain technically engaged, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Have experience leading, managing, coaching, or mentoring engineers and enjoy helping individuals reach their potential.
- Demonstrate a collaborative approach, willingly sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues across the business.
- Take ownership of challenges, using sound judgement and teamwork to achieve positive outcomes.
- Be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced technology environment.
