Data & Insights Engineer | Power BI | SQL | Data Engineering

📍 Halesowen / Remote
💼 Permanent

Are you a Data or BI Engineer who wants to do more than simply build dashboards? We're recruiting for a Data & Insights Engineer to join a growing Data & Analytics function, combining hands-on Power BI development with data engineering, modelling and transformation.

You'll work across the data lifecycle, from shaping and engineering the underlying datasets through to creating reporting and insights used by teams across Operations, Finance, HR and the wider organisation.

It's a particularly strong opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of BI and wants greater exposure to modern data engineering and cloud data platforms.

What you'll be working on

  • Designing and developing Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models
  • Building and optimising DAX calculations and data models
  • Developing data pipelines using SQL and modern data platforms
  • Transforming and modelling data for scalable reporting
  • Improving data quality, consistency and governance
  • Integrating data from multiple systems and sources
  • Working directly with stakeholders to turn complex requirements into useful insights
  • Helping shape reporting, data architecture and governance as the function continues to mature

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why consider it?

This is a chance to join a growing data function that's investing in its technology and moving towards a more modern data environment. Rather than inheriting a narrow reporting position, you'll have the opportunity to work across BI, engineering, architecture and data quality, while helping shape how data is used across a large, complex organisation.

The work also has a genuine purpose – the insights and systems you build ultimately support better decision-making across services for children, young people and adults throughout the UK.
