Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Data Insights Lead. As the Data & Insights Lead for the National Pensions Connection Service, you will lead the service's data, reporting, analytics, and insight capability. You will be responsible for ensuring there is a single, trusted and authoritative view of service performance across the pensions dashboards ecosystem, enabling informed decision-making by senior leaders, regulators, government departments, delivery partners and dashboard providers.
You will define and deliver the service's data and insight strategy, ensuring data is transformed into actionable intelligence that drives service performance, continuous improvement, regulatory reporting, and benefits realisation. Working closely with Data Engineering, Product, Operations and external suppliers, you will ensure the service's reporting, analytics and monitoring capabilities are robust, scalable and aligned to organisational and regulatory requirements.
A key aspect of the role will be establishing strong data governance, ensuring data quality, consistency, transparency and appropriate controls across a piece of National Digital Infrastructure.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Data & Insights function for the National Pensions Connection Service, providing strategic direction for reporting, analytics, monitoring and performance management.
- Develop and communicate a clear vision for how data and insight will support operational performance, service improvement and long-term strategic objectives.
- Establish and maintain a single, trusted source of performance information across the pensions dashboards ecosystem.
- Lead the production of executive reporting, performance insights and data-driven recommendations for senior leadership, governance boards and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the service maintains robust data governance practices, including data quality management, metadata standards, reporting controls, auditability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee relationships with regulators and government stakeholders, supporting reporting obligations and the provision of accurate, timely and transparent information.
- Work closely with Data Engineering, Product and Architecture teams to ensure reporting and analytical requirements are incorporated into data products and platforms.
- Lead the development of self-service reporting capabilities that enable users to access trusted information without reliance on bespoke analysis.
- Oversee benefits realisation measurement and performance evaluation, ensuring the service can demonstrate outcomes and value delivered over time.
- Manage and develop a multidisciplinary matrix team of analysts and insight professionals, providing coaching, mentoring and professional leadership.
- Promote a culture of evidence-based decision making, continuous improvement and data literacy across the service and wider organisation.
- Ensure monitoring, operational intelligence and analytical capabilities evolve alongside service growth and increasing transaction volumes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
