Role Title: SAVP – Data Management Engagement Lead (Energy & Utilities / Travel & Transport)
BU/Segment: Data Management / Energy & Utilities, Travel & Transport
Location: London, United Kingdom (Flexible hybrid working, with time on client site as required)
Reports to: VP2 – Data Management Leader (IMU / SGU Interlock Lead)
Employment Type: Permanent
Summary of the role:
The SAVP – Data Management Engagement Lead is a client-facing delivery leadership role that combines leading the delivery of Data Management engagements with helping to establish EXL's Data Management presence in the Energy & Utilities and Travel & Transport sectors – a new growth area for the practice. Working under the direction of the Interlock Lead, this role leads assigned engagements or major workstreams from initiation through completion, manages engagement commercials with oversight from the Interlock Lead, and contributes sector knowledge, delivery credibility and reusable assets to the practice's entry into these markets.
This is a role for an experienced practitioner with genuine domain understanding of utilities, energy, or transport organisations, who can lead delivery teams on client site, build strong working relationships with client delivery stakeholders, and help shape the propositions and proof points the practice needs to win and grow in a sector where it is building its footprint. The role carries delivery and engagement-level financial responsibility on assigned engagements; commercial ownership, account strategy and sector P&L sit with the Interlock Lead.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
50% Engagement Delivery Leadership
- Lead the delivery of assigned Data Management engagements or major workstreams from initiation through completion, on client site as required, in alignment with business requirements, project objectives, contracted deliverables and EXL methodologies.
- Manage the day-to-day engagement financials – budget tracking, invoicing inputs, provisions and forecasts – working with the Finance team monthly and with oversight and escalation to the Interlock Lead.
- Act as the senior EXL point of contact on the ground for assigned engagements, providing the first point of escalation for client delivery stakeholders.
- Assemble and manage the resources required to fulfil planned delivery to customer expectations, working with delivery enablement, resource management, and technical and competency leads.
- Manage project change requests and corrective actions on assigned engagements, raising commercial changes and material risks to the Interlock Lead for decision.
- Track and report engagement metrics that evidence delivery progress, quality and business value.
- Provide consistent, accurate and timely status reporting to project sponsors, stakeholders and the Interlock Lead, covering progress, risks, issues and action plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
