🚗✈️ Hiring: Data Manager | SQL, Python & Data Governance
I’m recruiting a hands-on Data Manager for a leading travel technology company. The role focuses on work spanning car rental, rides, car insurance, and flights. The team needs someone who can get into the data, identify what is going wrong, and help engineering and product teams fix it.
Location: Manchester: 2 days in the office every week (required)
Contract: 6 months initially, with an extension anticipated
Rate: £55 per hour via umbrella company
What you’ll be working on
- Write SQL and Python to profile data, automate quality checks, and investigate issues
- Trace problems through data flows, identify root causes, and quantify their impact
- Work directly with Manchester-based Engineering and Product teams to improve data products
- Define and document critical data, metadata, business terms, and data lineage
- Assess the implications of how sensitive data, including personal data, is used and governed
- Explain your findings clearly so teams can prioritize the right fixes

What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of relevant data experience
- Strong, hands-on SQL and Python skills — coding ability is the priority
- Experience investigating data quality issues and working with engineers on data flows or models
- The ability to communicate technical findings to product and business stakeholders

Experience with data governance, data glossaries, or enterprise data catalogues would strengthen your application. Collibra is especially useful; experience with tools such as Alation would also be relevant.
You’ll join a team of five Data Managers and work across engineering, product, and analytics teams. The interview process includes a HackerRank assessment and a competency-based interview.
