Help Aprender understand and strengthen its impact
As our volunteer Apto Data & MEL Lead, you will develop practical monitoring systems, dashboards and reports that help us learn, improve and demonstrate the difference our work makes.
What difference will you make?
Strong evidence is essential to Aprender’s ability to learn, grow and demonstrate the value of its work. As we extend our programmes into more communities, we need monitoring systems that are credible and consistent while remaining realistic for schools and partners working in low-resource settings.
Your contribution will help us understand what is working, where improvement is needed and how our programmes are influencing educators, schools and children. By contributing to clear dashboards and reporting frameworks, you will give trustees and colleagues better information for making strategic decisions and allocating limited resources effectively.
You will also strengthen our ability to communicate impact to current and potential partners and funders. Clear, trustworthy evidence will support stronger funding applications, deepen partner confidence and help us build the case for expanding approaches that work.
Just as importantly, you will help embed a culture of learning rather than simply measurement. Your expertise will enable Aprender and its partners to listen carefully, adapt programmes and continually improve. Ultimately, this will help us deliver more effective professional development, strengthen more schools and create better opportunities for children in under-resourced communities.

What will you be doing?
We are looking for a thoughtful and collaborative Data and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Lead to help us gather, understand and use evidence about the difference our programmes make.
Giving approximately two hours a week, you will
- Lead the development of practical monitoring, evaluation and learning systems for our Apto programmes.
- Help us develop our indicators that measure reach, quality, changes in educational practice and wider impact.
- Develop use of our KPI dashboards and reporting frameworks that are proportionate to the needs of a small, growing charity.
- Support colleagues and international partners to collect reliable, useful data without creating unnecessary burdens.
- Analyse and present information so it can inform programme improvement and organisational decision-making.
- Help produce clear and credible impact reports for trustees, partners, funders and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers, trustees, programme colleagues, coaches, schools and education officers.
- Ensure our approach to data reflects safeguarding, equality, inclusion and appropriate legal and ethical standards.

You may have experience in MEL, impact measurement, data analysis, evaluation, research, dashboard development or performance reporting. Experience in education, international development or the charity sector would be valuable but is not essential.
We are especially interested in someone who can make data understandable and useful. You will be comfortable combining attention to detail with an appreciation of the real people and stories behind the numbers. You will work independently while becoming part of a warm, committed and internationally connected team.
