Data Migration Analyst (M&A Integration)

Role Overview
The Data Migration Analyst plays a critical role in supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within the financial services sector. This role is responsible for analysing, mapping, cleansing, and migrating data from acquired entities into target systems while ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to business operations.
Responsibilities
As a Data Migration Analyst you will be responsible for:
- Responsible for supporting the end-to-end process of transferring data from legacy to new environments across multiple acquisitions
- Analyse source system data from acquired organisations
- Liaise with Vendors and business users to understand data requirements and critical data elements
- Define and document data mapping rules between legacy and target systems
- Identify and resolve data issues and discrepancies during the migration process
- Perform ETL process to extract data, transform it according to migration requirements and load into target systems
- Monitor data performance and provide ongoing support to address any post-migration issues.
- Document each phase of the migration process, including data mappings, transformations, and quality checks.
- Produce and enforce development standards and technical standards.
- Contribute to migration strategy, planning, and execution phases
- Liaise with IT, vendors, and programme teams to ensure alignment
- Translate business requirements into technical data mappings and rules
- Ensure adherence to financial services regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, FCA guidelines)
- Support data governance frameworks, including data lineage and auditability
- Maintain documentation for audit and regulatory reviews
- Develop and execute data migration test plans and scripts
- Perform reconciliation and ensure completeness and accuracy of migrated data

What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience in data migration or data integration roles, ideally within financial services
- Excellent understanding of data mapping, ETL processes, and data transformation
- Strong technical proficiency to comprehend current system architecture, data structures, and integration points
- Skilled in meticulous data analysis and migration, ensuring data integrity during transition
- Experience working on M&A or system integration projects
- Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, or similar)
- Experience with migration tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and tight deadlines
Desirable
- Knowledge of financial products (e.g. investments, pensions, insurance)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field
- Understanding of financial platforms/CRMs
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Experience in cloud-based data environments
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Adaptability in fast-paced M&A environments
- Structured and methodical approach to problem solving
- Team collaboration and cross-functional working
