Data Migration Specialist - SAP

Role Overview

A leading European Defence business is seeking an experienced data migration specialist to support the migration of a recent UK acquisition to their ECC6 SAP system. The role will focus on data preparation, cleansing, conversion, loading, and reconciliation from a non-SAP system to SAP ECC6 through iterative migration cycles, ensuring business readiness for deployment and supporting a successful go-live.

Contract Details

  • Location: Newport, Gwent
  • Contract: 6 Months, inside IR35
  • Working Pattern: 35 hours per week over 4.5 days. Full time onsite.
  • Rate: Up to £74ph Umbrella

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain key documentation including data migration plans, mapping specifications, and runbooks.
  • Support business teams with data cleansing of non-SAP data.
  • Prepare templates for master and transactional data.
  • Maintain source to target mapping documentation and transformation rules.
  • Develop migration test scripts (e.g., using LSMW).
  • Execute migration test loads and troubleshoot failures and defects.
  • Execute dress rehearsals and perform reconciliations to ensure data quality.
  • Contribute to cut-over and go-live planning.
  • Support production data migration activities.

Skill Set

  • Hands-on experience of performing data migrations from non-SAP systems to SAP ECC6.
  • Experience of developing data migration load programs (e.g., LSMW).
  • Strong understanding of SAP data objects.
  • Experience of data conversion, mapping, and transformation.
  • Experience of resolving data load defects and failures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with functional consultants and business stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • The role requires candidates to hold UK SC security clearance.
