To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Data Migration Specialist to join our team.
Role overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, excellent knowledge of SQL, Excel, and APIs, and experience in the financial services industry preferable. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful migration of data between systems while maintaining data integrity and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Mapping: Analyse data requirements and document data mapping between legacy systems and target systems to ensure accurate migration.
- SQL Query Development: Develop and execute SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data as part of the migration process, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Data Quality Assessment: Conduct data validation and cleansing processes to enhance data quality before and after migration, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulations.
- Excel Reporting & Analysis: Use Excel for advanced data manipulation, reporting, and analysis.
- API Integration: Collaborate with development teams to integrate and interface with Plannr’s APIs for loading data, ensuring smooth operations between different systems. Use Plannr’s data import tools to leverage its API and import data accurately and timely aligning with project milestones.
- Documentation: Produce comprehensive documentation related to data migration processes, data mappings, and troubleshooting guides to support ongoing operations and future migrations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, developers, sales and business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure data migration aligns with business objectives.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve data-related issues throughout the migration process and provide ad-hoc support as necessary.
- Testing: Participate in unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing to ensure that migration tools meet quality standards and business requirements.

Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in data migration, data analysis, or a related role, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Proficient in SQL for database querying and data manipulation.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data visualisation techniques.
- Familiarity with APIs and web services for data extraction and integration.
- Understanding of data governance principles and best practices in data quality management.
- Familiarity of UK financial products
- Experience with ETL tools or data migration tools is essential.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, R)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently when required.
